Born on the island of Santa Prisca, the boy who would become Bane was raised within the confines of his nation's cruelest prison where he honed his mind by reading any books he could get his hands on. After decades of imprisonment, he was chosen for an experiment testing a super-steroid called Venom. Not only did Venom work, but it also gave Bane the strength to escape. He then set his sights on Gotham City—a place of which he had heard many legends—with one goal in mind: break Batman.

During my childhood comic book obsession, Knightfall was a massive hit and still stands as one of the best Batman tales to date. Bringing that to life is McFarlane Toys' DC Multiverse Bane Megafig, which I had the good fortune of picking up at retail price bundled with Nekron. The scale of this Bane is much larger than the Last Knight on Earth Bane build-a-figure and the Dark Knight Rises Bane build-a-figure and it captures the classic, comic look well. Delighting in the details, the figure has an excellent headsculpt, well-detailed mask and immense detail on his muscle structure. The venom tank on his back, control glove, and various tubes throughout his body add an authentic touch. While the figure could improve in terms of paint coverage, overall it exudes a sense of power and intimidation. The only shortcoming being the lack of different hand design options for better Bat breaking poses. Despite any minor flaws, this figure is impressive and an excellent representation of Bane. It is worth your money, if you can find it at a reasonable retail price.
On Five Points of Articulation, we dove into a detailed review of the DC Multiverse Bane Mega Fig. The action figure was evaluated on packaging, presentation, poseability, playability, and price. Bane’s packaging was impressive, with the figure floating in a sea of emptiness within a giant window box. The presentation was terrific- from the detailed leather texture of the Luchador mask to the neon tubes of the Venom tanker, it’s obvious that effort was put into the DC Multiverse Bane figure. Although brief, the action figure's poseability aspect has some room for improvement, particularly in the wrist and torso. In terms of playability, Bane comes with a trading card and a figure stand but lacks alternate fists, which disappointed slightly. As for the price, Bane retails for $39.99 which, despite not feeling completely fair, seems somewhat justified compared to higher-end figures in the market. The DC Multiverse Bane Mega Fig earned an overall score of 4 out of 5.
