Hawk was the original field commander of the Joe team before he got his General's star and was booted upstairs to honcho the entire G.I. Joe Operation. He's a West Point graduate and has a list of special education credits as long as his arm, but he still managed to get the main body of his experience out there where it counts—on the battle field.

Being an enthusiast of Colonel Hawk from the comics, I must admit his 1986 figure, featured as General in the cartoon series, is probably his most iconic role. The figure of General Clayton "Hawk" Abernathy comes packed in a box featuring an artwork of him fighting in front of G.I. Joe Headquarters, a reference to a specific episode of the cartoon series. The figure comes equipped with a helmet, two pairs of goggles, two pistols, a shotgun, and a grenade launcher, elegantly crafted in solid black plastic. The sculpting is commendable with an admirably detailed jacket and a gallant portrait; however, the bicep cut could be more appealing. The articulation, with ball and socket options for various joints, offers good scope for mobility. The faceprint and detailing on the shoulder patches and pins add to the figure's appeal. If Hawk had an alternate pointing hand instead of bigger weapons, it would have been perfect. Additionally, adjustments could be made for a better fitting helmet by considering the goggles. Nevertheless, the option of moving the goggles is appreciated. A Colonel Hawk figure in OG 13 style would definitely be on the buying list.
