Marvel Legends Fin Fang Foom (BAF) Fin Fang Foom Build A Figure
Complete Fin Fang Foom Build-A-Figure.
Fin Fang Foom is a giant extraterrestrial creature and a frequent adversary of the superhero Iron Man. Fin Fang Foom first appeared in "Strange Tales" #89 in 1961.
Fin Fang Foom is a Makluan, a race of shape-shifting, highly intelligent aliens from the planet Kakaranthara (also known as Maklu IV). Although the character has undergone various interpretations and revisions over the years, Fin Fang Foom is often depicted as a massive, dragon-like creature with green scales, wings, and the ability to breathe fire.
In the Marvel Universe, Fin Fang Foom has been associated with the Mandarin, one of Iron Man's archenemies. In some storylines, the Mandarin discovers ten ancient Makluan rings, each possessing unique powers, and awakens Fin Fang Foom from a long slumber. The dragon is sometimes used as a weapon or ally by the Mandarin in his attempts to conquer the world.

This Fin Fang Foom (BAF) toy was added on September 2017 and originally released in 2008. This action figure is part of the Marvel genre within the Marvel Legends series and included in Wave 1. It is part of the Fin Fang Foom Build A Figure collection which includes 10 action figures. Hundreds of collectors have this toy (154) in their user collections, so it does seem to be very popular.
Released in 2008 as part of the Hulk wave, building this massive figure required all parts from the wave’s nine figures. To attain the full-sized figure, collectors had to wait patiently as the wave was released in two parts. Notably, Big Rucker highlights the size and detailing of Fin Fang Foom, mentioning the complexity due to its towering size, that he struggles to get the whole figure into the camera frame. Admirably, he mentions the commendable articulation, detailing on the claws, fingernails and mouth along with the impressive double-jointed elbows. Although wishing for a wider range in the neck articulation, he acknowledges that the action figure is still one of Hasbro's better offerings from that time.
Anthony's Customs revisits the build a figure Fin Fang Foom upon a viewer's request and expresses admiration for the figure, recalling it fondly as a wonderful example of what build a figures used to be. The figure stands out for its massive size, standing over 12 inches tall, and its detailed and articulated design. Particularly impressive is the realistic sculpting across every part of the figure from the detailed face, with four shades of red for the eyes and well-painted mouth and teeth, to the veins on the wings. The figure has numerous points of articulation, including movable wings, rotating neck, full range shoulders, bicep swivel, double-jointed elbow, and wrist hinge. Disappointed in the current trend of smaller, cheaper figures, Anthony's Customs expresses nostalgia for the exceptional quality of older figures like Fin Fang Foom.
