Ben Reilly was created by the Jackal (Miles Warren) as a clone of Peter Parker. Initially, he struggled with his identity and purpose, given his origins. However, he eventually embraced his role as a hero. Being a clone of Peter Parker, Ben Reilly possesses the same powers as Spider-Man, including super strength, agility, and the ability to stick to walls. He also uses web-shooters of his own design.
The web-shooters are unique in a few ways: Ben Reilly's web-shooters had retractable, razor-sharp "stingers" that he could use in combat, featured impact webbing," a type of web-fluid that, upon impact, would instantly expand to envelop and incapacitate a target in a web cocoon. This was a non-lethal way to subdue enemies and was effective against multiple foes, changed the reloading of web cartridges to be quicker and more efficient and the web shooters are mounted on the outside of the suit and visible.
You can see the details of the web shooters on the Scarlet Spider action figure which are painted silver on his wrists and cartridges on his removable belt.
