Some Major Differences with MOTU Cartoon Collection Skeletor and Man at Arms by www.youtube.com review sentiment positive

Hey everyone, it's Pixel Dan here. I'm absolutely thrilled to dive into Wave 2 of Mattel's Masters of the Universe cartoon collection, which essentially expands the Masters of the Universe Origins line. Today we're focusing on Skeletor and Man-At-Arms, but before we get to those, I can't skip over the inclusion of She-Ra as a fan favorite reissue. Noticeably on the packaging, it highlights fan favorites, indicating that reissues are sprinkled within these waves.

Taking She-Ra out of the box, there's an immediate sense of déjà vu - it's essentially the She-Ra we know but with subtle differences. The most striking change is the smaller glitter effect on her tiara and belt, thanks to a new holographic sticker. She also comes with improved knees, a richer gold hue, and prettier eye detailing compared to earlier iterations. The Power-Con exclusive She-Ra matches the holographic design of the first Origins release, but the eyes resemble those on the new retail version. Collectors of variants will appreciate these nuances.

Moving on to the cartoon collection figures, Skeletor and Man-At-Arms' packaging features Castle Greyskull and the Filmation vibe with a sticker mimicking the Filmation logo. The figures stem from '80s adventures, as indicated by their packaging but honestly, that bit feels unnecessary to me. Each figure comes with a mini comic titled "Wizards' Visard," which loosely retells "Masks of Power" from the series - drawing from episodes to create included artifacts.

Skeletor showcases pastel-colored purples and a pale yellow face, aiming for that Filmation aesthetic. However, I feel the figure could use additional black detailing, particularly around the teeth and hood, to enhance the sculpted features. Though lacking extra painted detail, the Havoc staff is nicely modeled after the cartoon.

Man-At-Arms shines with a striking pearlized helmet and a mustachioed face that captures the filmation likeness well. The armor, while not painted, is solid and correctly captures Duncan's filmation look, complete with the stasis Ray accessory that allows for dynamic posing.

Comparing these to other filmation releases, the Motu Classics line still takes the cake for cartoon accuracy, but these figures hold their own with solid construction and design.

Overall, the cartoon collection provides a refreshing take on familiar characters based on their most iconic representation. I'm eager to see what the line offers next and hope for more unique characters, tapping into the rich potential of the Filmation universe.
