Released to commemorate 40 years of The Empire Strikes Back, this Boba Fett figure struts out with a blast from the past with the color scheme of the 1979 Kenner figures. The packaging mirrors the 1979 version too, including a faithful recreation of the Star Wars logo border, Kenner logo, and other elements. While it's a beautiful packaging to behold, opening it can be quite a chore since you may end up damaging the plastic bubble. The figure and its accessories are safely tucked inside the packaging, waiting to unleash a wave of nostalgia.

This Boba Fett figure might be a simple repaint, but the pastel colors, helmet, and smaller Mandalorian crest make it interesting. Bearing similar articulations as previous Boba Fett releases, it comes with a jetpack, Sacross-K-11 blaster pistol, EE-3 carbine rifle, and an E-11 blaster rifle – a perfect blend of authenticity, aesthetics, and nostalgia.

However, it's not exactly the same as the original toy. You'll notice alterations here and there, some welcomed and others not. For example, the silver battle damage remains intact, and there's a minor issue with the silver spray finding its way onto the visor.

Although it's simply a delightful repaint, the figure has a nice color scheme. This limited-edition figure caters to nostalgia and uniqueness. But it won't leave other collectors in regret, for they are not missing out on something "essential". Hopefully, Hasbro will also plan for an animation colors version, which would further enhance the lineup.

In this video, Mr. Domo provides a detailed review of the Star Wars 40th Anniversary The Empire Strikes Back Boba Fett figure, modeled in the original Kenner style. The aesthetics of the card-back and the figure’s colors, reflective of the Kenner Boba Fett style that was released in 1978, magnify the figure's appeal. Despite reusing the same mold as the archive edition, the anniversary special figure dons a new paint job, setting it apart. While sticking to the original weapon design, this figure is lacking in color detailing, which could be perceived as a disadvantage when compared to the archive edition. The figure also includes the original style large pistol, reminiscent of the Kenner figure. Finally, the card back is immaculately clean and should not invite trouble with grading. In the scheme of things, the 40th anniversary figure successfully recreates the nostalgia of the 1978 release, making it a prized possession in Mr. Domo’s Star Wars collection.
